7-Eleven apologises for GST price error

PETALING JAYA: 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Berhad yesterday apologised to all consumers affected by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) pricing error for selected items sold at its stores earlier yesterday.
Its general manager (marketing) Ronan Lee said the pricing error occurred due to a technical system error in its point-of-sale system.
"This particularly impacted on some newspaper products which we sell as these incurred a minor increase on the correct price which should not have been charged as newspapers do not attract any GST," he added in a statement yesterday.
Lee said as soon as the system error was discovered, they immediately took action to withdraw these products from sale so that their customers would not be inconvenienced further.
"However, we understand that the incident would have caused frustration for our customers and for that we sincerely apologise," he said, adding that the system errors were being corrected and the revised pricing will be implemented as soon as possible.
He said 7-Eleven will not sell affected items until the system errors have been fully corrected.
For anyone who was impacted yesterday, the company requests them to contact it by using private message via 7-Elevan Malaysia's official Facebook page or email to marketing@7eleven.com.my with contact details.
