IPOH: The second day of the Perak state assembly saw two term Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Wah being ordered out when he refused to comply to the orders of the speaker, Datuk Seri S. K. Devamany, to sit down during a debate on the Sultan's opening speech.
Wong's non-compliance and repeated argument finally saw him being ushered out of the house accompanied by a sergeant at arms.
The incident was sparked by Salbiah Mohamed (BN-Temenggor) who when debating accused Wong of raising misleading information that flood victims in her constituency were not given any aid.
"You should check your facts first before making claims. Aid was distributed as soon as the floods struck especially Orang Aslis in December last year, " she told him.
At this juncture, Wong stood up and asked for permission to explain but was refused by Salbiah.
The speaker told him to sit but he ignored the orders which led to exchange of words from both sides of the political divide.
Subsequently, exco member Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid (BN-Kamunting) proposed a motion to refer Wong to the Rights and Privileges Committee.
Devamany then told the house: "With the powers invested in me I order YB from Canning to leave the house from today's sitting. He will also be referred to the Rights and PriviIeges Committee."
Salbiah then continued with her debate.
