Ringgit ends higher against US dollar

    KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher against the US dollar today on short-covering.

    At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.6680/6710 against the greenback from 3.6975/6005 yesterday.

    A dealer said investors shifted their interests to the Asian currencies, including the local currency, due to weak economic data, including employment figure from the US.

    The ringgit also closed higher against other major currencies.

    It rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.6988/6018 from 2.7003/7029 on Wednesday and was higher against the yen at 3.0671/0709 from yesterday's 3.0738/0771.

    The local note gained against the British pound to 5.4396/4459 from 5.4568/4627 yesterday. It fell against the euro to 3.9717/9761 from 3.9674/9717. – Bernama
