Employer shoots wild boar, hits worker instead

GEORGE TOWN: The caretaker of a caged-fish breeding farm in Nibong Tebal sustained injuries in the hand and back when his employer fired a shotgun in the direction of a charging wild boar today.
Following the incident about 9am at the farm in Sungai Acheh, the 38-year-old injured man was warded at the Sungai Bakap Hospital in a stable condition.
Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said earlier, the caretaker, a foreign national had telephoned his employer to inform him that a wild boar had encroached into the farm.
He said the employer rushed to the scene with a shotgun and fired a shot at the boar.
"Unfortunately at that moment, the victim darted in the way of the boar and was hit in the left hand and back," he told reporters here today.
Wan Hassan said according to the victim, he wanted to hack the animal with a machete and did not realise that his employer was about to fire a shot.
The 43-year-old employer was detained and released on police bail after his statement was recorded. – Bernama
