Family holds prayers to commemorate first year passing of Karpal

GEORGE TOWN: A Sikh prayer ceremony was held at the Wadda Gurdwara Sahib to commemorate the first year of late DAP chairman Karpal Singh's passing earlier today.
Family, friends and relatives were seen entering the temple located in town to attend the ceremony which commenced at about 9am.
Karpal's son Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo said the 24-hour ceremony will be held for three days until Sunday morning.
Speaking to the media at the temple compound, Gobind described Karpal's death as an irreplaceable loss.
Also present during today's ceremony were Karpal's widow Gurmit Kaur, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, Karpal's eldest son State Housing Committee Chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo and his younger son Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh Deo.
Karpal, 74, died in an accident at KM306.1 of the North-South Expressway near Guar Tempurung in Kampar, Perak on April 17, 2014. His assistant Michael Cornelius, 39, also perished in the accident.
