Four caught red handed in drugs bust

NIBONG TEBAL: Three men and a woman were caught red handed packing drugs for distribution during a police operation on Sunday.
South Seberang Perai district police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the four, aged between 23 and 34 believed to be involved in drug distribution activities here and in nearby Parit Buntar along the Kedah-Penang border, were detained after a police team raided a room of a hotel in Taman Simpang Ampat here at about 2am.
Urine tests of those detained turned positive for drug abuse.
Wan Hassan said police seized several packets of heroin, ganja and syabu (amount not disclosed), in addition to a Playstation video game console, a power bank, a CD changer, two watches, 11 handphones of various makes, three bags and RM2,024 in cash, and several weapons including six knives, a small hammer, six 5.6mm bullet casings and various tools.
“The total value of the items seized is about RM20,000,” said Wan Hassan.
The suspects will be remanded until April 8 to facilitate investigations under the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958, Minor Offences Act 1995 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Wan Hassan also said they nabbed seven men, aged between 22 and 44, to assist them in their investigations into a robbery case at a factory in Jalan Kerian Kedah on Feb 24 about 11.30pm.
The suspects from whom the police seized two mobile phones, two laptops and RM10,000 in cash were picked up from various places including Taiping and Bagan Serai in Perak during an operation on April 5.
They are on remand until April 10.
