KUALA LUMPUR: The government is looking at other companies aside from MyEG Services Berhad for the online foreign maid permit renewal process.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the government is now looking for an alternative to MyEG under the Malaysian Administrative modernisation and management planning Unit (MAMPU) in order to avoid the online renewal process from being monopolised by a single company.
"The government is looking for an alternative, but is not implementing it yet," he told reporters at Parliament today.
"In the past, there were a lot of companies who presented their products in 2012, and the government found that MyEG could perform what the government wanted them to do," he said.
Wan Junaidi added that the online process is the way forward.
MyEG came under fire by various quarter after it was appointed by the government to process the online foreign worker renewal process, with some claiming that it was expensive.
