Inaugral Cultural Week M'sia takes place in Paris

    PETALING JAYA: The Cultural Week Malaysia Paris Programme will be held for the first time in France from April 13-17 as a prime strategy to increase Malaysia’s chances of competing for the Unesco board chairman position for the 2015-2019 term.
    In a statement today, the Tourism and Culture Ministry said both events of the Cultural Week Malaysian Paris programme on April 13 and Intangible Cultural Heritage exhibition on April 14 will be inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
    The programme aims to boost the efforts to elevate and highlight the Malaysian heritage and a total of 80 delegates are deemed to participate in this event including heritage exhibition, cultural performances, promotion and sales of products and event management.
    The Malaysian cultural week programme is conducted with the cooperation of the Foreign Affairs Ministry through the Malaysian Embassy in Paris and the Education Ministry through the Permanent Representative of Malaysian Officer (PPTM) at Unesco headquarters.
    Over the years, Malaysia has committed to support the aspiration and commitment to Unesco in the cause of peace and prosperity through fields of competence.
    In the cultural aspect, Malaysia is the member state of two Unesco convention namely the 1972 World Heritage Convention and Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage 2003.
