Report Yayasan Selangor losses to MACC

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state government was today urged to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) the RM15.12 million losses sustained by Yayasan Selangor.
The Auditor-General's Report 2014 tabled this week in Parliament had revealed that due to delays of the Bukit Bintang redevelopment project since 2010, Yayasan Selangor had lost RM15.12 million.
"A report should be made to MACC if there are leakages in the management of Yayasan Selangor. The asset is incurring a loss. The committee in charge of government agencies, statutory bodies and state government corporations should pay serious attention to this matter," Datuk Sulaiman Abdul Razak (BN-Permatang) told the state assembly today.
Sulaiman said that, should the committee find that indeed there is misappropriation by Yayasan Selangor, it should be reported to MACC.
This would prevent the state government from incurring losses in the future.
"There shouldn't be any compromise with any department or state agencies. Let the action taken be a lesson to us. If no stern action is taken, there may be a repeat in the future," he added while debating the proposal brought by Yeo Bee Yin (DAP-Damansara Utama).
Prior to this, the AG's report had revealed that Yayasan Selangor ended the lease of its building in Bukit Bintang in 2012, causing a loss of RM2.52 million in 2012, RM7.56 million in 2013 and RM5.06 million from January to August 2014.
