Bloomberg TV Malaysia confident on being top channel

    PETALING JAYA: Bloomberg TV Malaysia is confident that it will be able to sustain being the top business channel in the country.
    Its chairman Tan Sri Mohd Effendi Norwawi said there is a market gap on business information in the country presently and the emergence of Bloomberg TV Malaysia would be able to serve the business community.
    "We should be successful in meeting the needs of our target group, which is the business community in Malaysia," he said.
    "We have our experiences from Bloomberg internationally, as well as the quality, reputation and credibility based on our standard.
    "I believe we will be successfully received in the market," he told reporters after the lauching of Bloomberg TV Malaysia at The Strand Encorp here today.
    The launching ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
    Mohd Effendi said the channel is currently available on online platforms and would be expanded to other platforms soon.
    Asked if there was any timeframe set for Bloomberg TV Malaysia to be on air following a long-overdue, Mohd Effendi said it would be "very soon".
    "We are finalising some technical issues with the other television platforms. It should be done very soon... We are ready to broadcast," he said.
    He said the TV channel is dedicated to dessiminate latest updates and information to cater the needs of local businesses.
    "Information is crucial for the businesses and we want to provide them with the latest real-time information on the Malaysian business scene, which is an undeserved market at the moment," he said.
    He said the existance of Bloomberg in Malaysia would also open the path for Malaysia's businesses to be publicised in the international market.
    "Bloomberg in the number one business channel globally with viewership of over 340 million people," he said.
    "Any great stories, achievements, success and opportunities in malaysia can be be put across the global network through Bloomberg TV Malaysia," he said.
