Johor goalkeeper claims trial to police insult

GEORGE TOWN: Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) goalkeeper Mohd Anis Faron Ahmad Arsidi today claimed trial to insulting the modesty of the Royal Malaysian Police.
The 32-year-old was charged with committing the offence about 10.50pm on April 3, 2015, at the City Stadium here.
He was accused of insulting the modesty of the police by using foul language which could be heard by police members on duty then.
The offence under the Penal Code carries a maximum five year prison sentence or fine or both if convicted.
During mitigation, National Legal Aid Foundation (NLAF) counsel Andy Ooi, acting for Mohd Anis Faron, requested the court for a low bail amount.
He said the accused had to care for his 12-year-old child and mother who was ill.
Magistrate L. Umma Devi granted bail at RM3,500 with one surety and fixed June 29 for mention while Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Nor Azura Zulkifli prosecuted.
