Perak gets first woman district officer

IPOH: History was created in the Perak state government administration yesterday when a woman was appointed as a district officer.
Latipah Sehibi, 58, will head the Kampar district effective tomorrow.
She received her letter of appointment from Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir in a ceremonial event here today.
Latipah replaces Datuk Ismail Hassan who has retired.
Her last posting was as Perak Land and Mines department deputy director (management) in 2005.
She started her career in the civil service in 1981 as an administrative officer and served as registration officer at the National Registration Department.
She was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic officer in 1991. Later she served at land offices in various posts in Selangor and Perak.
When asked on her appointment, Latipah said: "I am honoured and grateful to the state government administration under Zambry for appointing me to the post.
"I will carry out the responsibility entrusted to me to the best of my ability."
