Man denies ownership of offensive FB account

GEORGE TOWN: A manager for a parking system company is crying foul after he was identified as the author behind several incendiary postings on social media.

Ivan Goh Lee En Tat, 43, said the posts, relating to Islam, royalty and the federal government, on a Facebook page with his name and face does not belong to him.

He said he only became aware of the matter when several policemen came to his house in Tanjung Bungah just after midnight on Wednesday.

Goh pointed out that the account was only created on April 10 this year and stressed that he had nothing to do with the posts, some of which displayed his address.

He said he feared for his safety now as unknown persons had thrown rocks and firecrackers at his house since Tuesday.

“I have lodged reports with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC),” he said, when met by reporters at his house today.

Goh also expressed hopes that the authorities will catch the culprit soon and clear his name.

Earlier, Penang Perkasa Youth chief Mohd Rizuad Azudin and several non-governmental organisations lodged police reports on the offensive Facebook posts at the Jalan Patani police station here.
