GEORGE TOWN: Police are looking for two men to assist in investigations on several incendiary postings concerning the royalty and the government on Facebook.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid identified the men as S. Arulselvam, 29 and Mohd Azly Anuar, 23, during a press conference at the state police headquarters today.
He said to date, 22 police reports were lodged by various groups of people on the sensitive postings, including two reports from Ivan Goh Lee En Tatt, who alleged that the postings were made in his name.
On Wednesday, Goh denied ownership of the Facebook account which posted sensitive remarks relating to the Island, royalty and the federal government.
Goh also lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) following the postings, after rocks and firecrackers were thrown into his house compound in Tanjung Bungah.
Police have classified the case under the Penal Code and the Sedition Act 1948 for causing disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity.
On a separate matter, North Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said the body of an Indian national was found in a monsoon drain in Jalan Bagan Dalam, Butterworth at about 10.40am today.
He said police rushed to the scene and found the man, in his 30's, lying in the drain after being alerted by the public.
" He is a construction worker from Manjung, Perak", he said, adding that injury wounds were also spotted on the deceased's cheek and neck.
" The body has been sent to the Seberang Jaya hospital for a post-mortem, " he added.
