BUKIT MERTAJAM: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has brushed off rumours of silent protests by Permatang Pauh PAS members if she is to be nominated as the opposition's candidate for the by-election.
She said that PAS Permatang Pauh have said that they will support PKR's chosen candidate, whoever the person might be.
"They are with us," she told the media in an impromptu press conference at the Seberang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSP) headquarters when asked by reporters.
This comes after it was reportedly said that certain PAS members had threatened to boycott the by-election campaign.
The state PAS Youth had reportedly threatened to boycott the campaign unless PKR and DAP retract a statement attacking PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and the party's plans on hudud.
The Permatang Pauh seat fell vacant following the decision of the Pardons Board to reject Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's petition for a pardon following his conviction and five-year jail term for sodomy.
The Permatang Pauh by-election will be held on May 7 while nomination is on April 25 and early voting on May 3
