KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer filed a civil suit at the High Court today seeking for the removal of the chairman of the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Batu Caves.
    M. Manoharan filed the suit against Tan Sri R. Nadarajah, the chairman of the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Devasthanam, which manages the Batu Caves temple.
He is seeking for the removal of Nadarajah, claiming that he had failed to function as a chairman of a religious, education and charity trust, as per the Supreme Court order, dated Nov 28, 1930 and a Malaya High Court order dated May 25, 1981.
Manoharan is seeking for an explanation of a clause in the High Court order in 1982, on the "scheme for the conduct and management of the charity known as the Mariamman Hindu Temple".
He said the clause, which does not state the time limit on the post of a chairman, should be explained and added with another clause, which limits the period to hold the post, to a maximum of four years.
Manoharan said Nadarajah has held the post for the past 30 years. He is also seeking for Nadarajah, his wife and children to declare all their assets.
