Dead body found in Lebuh Victoria premise

GEORGE TOWN: A body of an unknown individual was found inside a wooden box at a premise in Lebuh Victoria on Thursday.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said police rushed to the scene after receiving a call from a woman at around 3pm, saying that a foul stench was coming from a box.
He said wounds were spotted on the victim's head and left chest and police believe it was caused by a weapon.
"The cause of death is severe head injury due to blunt force trauma, " he told the media in a brief statement, adding that the case is being investigated for murder under the Penal Code.
The body was sent to the Penang Hospital for a post mortem.
