Ringgit opens higher against US dollar

    KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit strengthened against the US dollar today on renewed buying interest for the local unit. At 9.00am, the local unit was quoted at 3.6345/6385 to the greenback compared with 3.6355/6385 at 5pm on Tuesday.
    A dealer said the stronger buying sentiment for the local currency was a spillover from the eurozone conundrum, that Greece might default on its debts. The domestic unit was traded mixed against other major currencies.
    It was higher against the Singapore dollar at 2.6865/6914 from 2.6902/6942 on Tuesday, but down against the British pound at 5.4216/4294 from 5.4089/4148.
    The ringgit appreciated against the yen to 3.0361/0397 from 3.0392/0430.It however, declined against the Euro to 3.8958/9005 from 3.8831/8870. – Bernama
