KUALA LUMPUR: Seremban-born SAC Zahari Mohd Yusoff officially took over as the new commandant of the KL Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Jalan Semarak here today.
Zahari took over the helm as the 43rd commandant after the first woman Pulapol commandant, Nahariah Hussein, 57, passed away in March this year.
Zahari, 58, who joined the force in 1976, previously served as the deputy commander of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) for two years.
Zahari expressed his gratitude to the police management for having confidence in him to lead the training centre.
“After 39 years of leaving Pulapol, I never expect that I will return here,” he added.
He also said that his first mission in leading Pulapol is to stress on discipline issues among the staff and trainees.
The handing-over of duties at Pulapol was witnessed by Bukit Aman Management director Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
“Zahari is the right person to be appointed as the new commandant,” said Mohamad Fuzi.
Mohamad Fuzi said the police management will improve the training syllabus in order to cope with new types of crime recently.
“Currently, our nine months training modules have three aspects which are physical, academic and spiritual. We will update the modules with new policing aspects comprehensively,” he added.
