KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he is prepared to attend forums to explain his dissatisfaction with the administration of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
"People have been asking me why I am doing all this. They don't understand and said I should explain it to the people," he said.
The veteran statesman said there were still people asking him the motive behind his attacks on Najib's administration, including when he asked the latter to step down from his position.
"If they are curious and want to know why I am asking Najib to step down, I will explain," he told reporters after chairing a talk on "Nation Building through Education: Seeding Moral Values In Developing Character" at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia here.
Mahathir however denied that he would embark on a nationwide roadshow, saying he would only do so on an invitation basis.
"I am being invited to many places but not all I can attend because I am quite busy," he said.
Mahathir has kept up a steady stream of criticism against Najib on the controversial 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Earlier during the Q&A session at the event, Mahathir said the Malay community has been developing since independence to compete with the other races in terms of economic development, albeit progressing slowly.
"The Malays are now leading big companies and corporations and they have learned a lot.
"They are changing, but it is too slow for me because I will not be around for very long," he said.
