KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher against the US dollar today, reacting positively to Eurozone finance ministers' meeting to determine Greece's fate, a dealer said.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.5790/5830 against the greenback compared with 3.6250/6280 yesterday.
The dealer said the local unit rose on the back of news that German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, wanted to keep Greece in the Eurozone.
"There is a lot of speculation that a Greece deal will be reached later today, and I view this as a strong possibility given the recent headlines," he told Bernama.
The ringgit was quoted mostly higher against other major currencies.
It strengthened against the Singapore dollar to 2.6767/6811 from Thursday's 2.6916/6958 and rose against the British pound to 5.4193/4268 from 5.4371/4435 previously.
The local unit also edged up against the yen to 2.9947/9986 from 3.0213/0246 yesterday. It, however, eased against the euro to 3.8954/9008 from 3.8882/8925 previously. – Bernama
