BUKIT MERTAJAM: Penang Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) rejects Azman Shah Osman who is contesting in the Permatang Pauh by-election under the party's flag.
PRM Penang chief Datuk Gary Nair reiterated his stand, that the party's chapter rejects anyone who contests under the party's ticket in this by-election.
"As I have stated in my press conference on Friday, we categorically reject this person whom we have no inkling about.
"This 'joker', who is not even a party member, dares to use our name and flag," he said in a press statement.
Gary added that Penang PRM strongly urged Azman to withdraw his candidacy.
"To all our members and supporters, please vote for PKR (candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail)," he said.
Gary also pointed out that the party's chapter will write to the Registrar of Societies to verify the authenticity of a "surat watikah" (appointment letter) that was produced to the Elections Commission at the nomination centre today.
Azman will be contesting against three other candidates – Wan Azizah, BN's Suhaimi Sabudin and independent candidate Salleh Isahak.
Earlier, Azman had told reporters that he was a member of PRM, and was given the mandate to contest in the by-election by the party leadership.
