Deputy foreign minister takes opportunity to promote moderation approach to UN

    PUTRAJAYA: A two-day working visit by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Hamzah Zainudin to New York, United State has given an opportunity for him to promote moderation to the United Nations as an instrumental value and approach to resolve conflicts through dialogue, mutual respect and compromise.
    The visit, from April 22-24 also had further enhanced the image and standing of Malaysia at the global stage particularly by playing a constructive role in the Security Council to address pressing concerns of the international community.
    According to a statement issued by the ministry here today the visit was at the invitation of Jordan, who holds the monthly rotating Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
    Malaysia was elected as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the period of 2015-2016, since January this year.
    During the visit Hamzah participated in two UNSC meetings, accompanied by Datuk Ramlan Ibrahim, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the UN. – Bernama
