GEORGE TOWN: Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan has made it clear that he will not debate on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which has been implemented throughout the whole country, with the Penang PKR Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) youth wing.
Citing the invitation from the wing, he said there are plenty of ways that he can use to explain the issues involved to the people and need not necessarily explain the issue to the opposition on their own turf.
"I am not afraid to debate (the issues) with them but I have so many other avenues to clear the air over the GST.
"If I am standing on their stage, the exact facts will be spun in all types of manners, and I will not fall into their trap," he told a press conference.
He was asked by reporters after the state PKR Youth wing had issued a challenge to him to clear the air over the tax regime which has been implemented since April 1.
Ahmad said that he has so many other channels to clarify the GST to the people since he made his presence in Permatang Pauh, adding that he does not need the opposition stage to explain the tax system.
