PETALING JAYA: Actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh (pix) were among Malaysians reportedly stranded in Nepal.
A statement released by the world motor sport governing body International Automobile Federation (FIA) on Sunday said Michelle and her husband Jean Todt had attended the inaugural Asia-Pacific Sport Regional Congress in Kathmandu.
The event was attended by 45 delegates from 14 countries in the region.
Jean Todt is FIA president and Michelle Yeoh is the Road Safety Ambassador.
The statement also said all FIA members and congress delegates are safe.
“In the coming days, the FIA will investigate the possibility of establishing a fund for charitable donations to be made to the people of Nepal as they attempt to rebuild their lives from this disaster,” the statement said.
“The FIA, on behalf of the broader motor sport community, wishes to convey its most heartfelt condolences to the Nepal people – our collective thoughts are with them as they deal with this tragedy,” it said.
At least 3,200 people were killed when a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Himalayan country.
