Pandan MP Rafizi's trial continues

PETALING JAYA: Pandan MP Mohd Rafizi Ramli's counsel objected to the prosecution's application to send a laptop belonging to a reporter for analysis, in the middle of a trial.
Rafizi's lawyer Eric Paulsen objected saying that the prosecution cannot send the laptop for an analysis in the middle of the trial and that there are no provisions in the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) for re-investigation.
The prosecution had sent the laptop for analysis, after the testimony of a reporter, Azril Annuar, who had interviewed Rafizi.
Sessions judge Azwarnida Affandi allowed the prosecution's application as the case is still at the prosecution's stage and has not been closed yet.
Azwarnida said if the prosecution calls an analysis expert to testify on the laptop, the defence counsel will then have the opportunity to cross-examine.
Investigating Officer Inspector Ahmad Tajudin, was testifying at the trial of Rafizi, who is charged with intentionally insulting and provoking Umno members in an article, which could lead to disturbing public peace.
The charge under Section 504 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum sentence of two years jail or fine or both.
