Installation ceremony of the 35th Sultan of Perak begins

KUALA KANGSAR: The start of the events in conjunction with the installation ceremony of the 35th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, began with the announcement in front of the Panca Pesada (royal bath platform) at Istana Iskandariah grounds here today.
Sultan Nazrin made the announcement after the Orang Besar Lapan, Orang Kaya Kaya Seri Adika Raja Shah Bandar Muda Datuk Seri Mohamad Othman Zainal Azim sought an audience with him to begin the event.
This marks the beginning of the 15 days of events, which ends on May 17, in conjunction with the installation.
Following this, the doa was recited by Perak mufti Tan Sri Dr Harussani Zakaria, followed by the nobat" (royal musical ensemble).
A 17-canon salute was fired to mark the beginning of the ceremony.
Some 300 guests attended the event including the Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, and Raja Di Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Idris A' fifullah Shah, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Exco members.
The highlight of the ceremony will be the installation of Sultan Nazrin as the Sultan of Perak at the Balairong Seri at Istana Iskandariah on Wednesday. Tuanku Zara Salim would also be proclaimed as the Raja Permaisuri Perak.
