BUKIT MERTAJAM: A total of 22 community rehabilitation centres (CRC) in Penang, today received grants worth RM5.8 million from the women, family and community development ministry to ensure the welfare of the disabled.
Minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the provision clearly showed the government was committed to helping people with disabilities to maximise their potential, including the provision of care, training and rehabilitation.
"As we know, it is not easy to provide care, training and rehabilitation for the disabled, especially children. I hope the CRCs fully utilise the provision for the welfare of the disabled," she said when launching the Penang state-level mini carnival for the disabled in Permatang Rawa near here.
Rohani said support and assistance from all parties would certainly help improve the services and role of the centres in the future, while providing a boost to these special people to continue to live independently.
Commenting further, she said the government always improved the quality of services for the disabled by determining their number through registration. – Bernama
