Ringgit opens lower against US dollar

    KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar on lack of buying support for the local note.

    At 9.16am, the local unit was quoted at 3.5970/6000 versus the greenback compared with 3.5600/5630 at 5pm on Thursday.

    The market was closed on Friday and Monday for two local public holidays.

    The domestic unit traded mostly lower against other major currencies.

    The local unit fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.6982/7009 from 2.6917/6958 on Thursday and decreased against the British pound to 5.4390/4457 from 5.5006/4073 previously and went up against the yen to 2.9935/9963 from 2.9944/9971 on Thursday.

    However, the ringgit depreciated against the Euro to 4.0099/0136 from 3.9897/8941 on Thursday. – Bernama
