Johor cops doubling efforts to stop Mat Rempits

    JOHOR BARU: Johor traffic police chief Superintendent Baharudin Mat Taib said traffic police are stepping up efforts to curb Mat Rempit activities.

    He said almost every night traffic police have raided Mat Rempit activities on a small scale.
    Mat Rempit are usually active in Jalan Lido and Eastern Dispersal Link highway (EDL).

    “I don’t think Johor has illegal car racing activities, but Mat Rempit have caused a lot of problems for road users,” he said when met at the Johor police contingent headquarters today.
    Meanwhile, he also advised those with outstanding traffic summonses to pay up before May 15.

    According to the statistics released by Johor traffic police, there are some 150,051 outstanding traffic summonses amounting to about RM45 million to date in the state.
