PETALING JAYA: 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) has cautioned that it could pursue legal action against any party that makes malicious and slanderous allegations against the company.
The state fund has asked the public for patience until the Auditor-General completes an independent review of 1MDB's accounts.
1MDB said presently, its board and management are co-operating fully with the Auditor-General, the Royal Malaysian Police and the Public Accounts Committee in the conduct of their reviews of the company.
In particular, it said, the Auditor-General is conducting an independent review of 1MDB's accounts, as agreed by the Cabinet of Malaysia.
"We, therefore, seek the patience and understanding of the public and interested parties to wait for the results of these reviews. We request that no one should prejudge the matter without thorough facts ahead of the reviews being made public.
1MDB also stressed that its accounts are audited by international audit firm, Deloitte which signed off it's 2013 and 2014 accounts without qualification.
Similarly, it said that KPMG signed off the 2010, 2011 and 2012 accounts with no qualification.
"We, therefore, seek the patience and understanding of the public and interested parties to wait for the results of these reviews. We request that no one should prejudge the matter without thorough facts ahead of the reviews being made public.
"We have full confidence in Deloitte and the Auditor-General, as does our 100% shareholder, Minister of Finance Incorporated.
"The board gives its undertaking that in the event of adverse findings the board will take all the responsible measures and actions," it said.
