KUALA LUMPUR: Employees are being urged to get behind a campaign which aims to reignite the community spirit by helping fight street crime.
Since 2012, the Road Safety Marshal Club (RSMC) has launched various street crime campaigns to educate the public on the importance of safety and skills when people are endangered.
This year, RSMC launched the “Street Crime Awareness Campaign: Let’s Fight Against Street Crime”, mainly for the working community.
RSMC chairman K. Balasupramaniam said this campaign is to alert Malaysians on how to protect themselves and learn vital skills practically.
“We have to be the eyes and ears of the public, especially alerting them when something is not right,” he said during the launch here today.
"We hope people will give us 10 minutes of their time to learn about the significance of preventing street crime," he added.
The practical session includes how to use a pepper spray, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), self-triage, how to avoid acid splash and kidnapping.
RSMC will launch a street crime campaign for women, “Women Street Crime” sometime in August.
