LAHAD DATU: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) urged the relevant authority to revoke the licence given to certain companies supplying fuel to southern Philippines.

He said the licence should be revoked because the fuel sent to the areas were believed to have been used by criminal groups to pose threats to public order in Sabah, especially in the east coast of the state.

"I was informed that certain companies were issued with a licence to supply fuel to southern Philippines. So, I really hope that the licence can be revoked.
"It is high time for us to implement an economic sanction against the people in southern Philippines. This is one of the moves we recommended to the government and the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry to help us tackle all criminal threats for the safety and wellbeing of the people in the country, especially in Sabah."

Khalid said this to reporters today after presenting the Pingat Kedaulatan Negara (PKN) medal to 413 officers and staff of the Royal Malaysian Police who were involved in the Ops Daulat to flush out Sulu militants here two years ago.
The IGP said all government agencies in the east coast of Sabah should also re-evaluate their activities that could provide room for criminals to commit crimes in the areas.

Meanwhile, Khalid urged the public to stop speculating about the recent kidnapping incident at a seafood restaurant in Sandakan.

"We understand the public's concern about the incident, but no one should take advantage of the situation to speculate and spread lies about the security forces.

"Please cooperate with the security forces... don't spread false news to the extent of causing worry to the public, especially in the east coast of Sabah," he added. – Bernama
