KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) today admitted that he told the Prime Minister to sack the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) board members.
Speaking to reporters at the parliament lobby, he said he made the statement at a closed door meeting and that there was nothing new about it.
"I have said it openly before. This is my personal view," he said.
The recording of his speech had since been uploaded on YouTube.
Asked on how Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak responded to his statement, he replied "tiada apa-apa" (there was nothing).
"He (Najib) has never brought up any issue about the video to me. I just made my statement. I never asked what others were saying," he said.
Muhyiddin said he told the premier that the board of directors should be sacked as Najib now has to shoulder the burden because of them.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan were also at seen at the event in the seven-minute video.
The deputy premier had in the past said that the Federal Government should not bail out 1MDB, but to investigate the company.
