PM: NBOS helped break down government ministries' 'silo mentality'

    KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) has broken down the 'silo mentality' within the various government ministeries and agencies that subsequently enabled the government to better serve the people, says Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
    Najid said that since its implemetation in 2009, the implementation of the NBOS work culture have led to civil servants to be more creative and innovative in their thinking while avoiding conventional style of thinking.
    "As a result, more than 80 NBOS initiatives have been carried out for the betterment of the people targeting all walks of life of the society by the various ministeries and agencies at both state and federal level," he said during the launch of NBOS Open Day 2015 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre earlier.
    Najid added that all NBOS initiatives emphasizes on collaboration among government agencies, private sector and non-governmental organisations with the objective of delivering services and projects that are of high impact, low cost, with rapid execution and sustainable.
    "There are four main clusters under NBOS – economic development, integrated development, public security and social inclusion – affecting eight different areas like Pan-Asean collaboration, effective public service delivery, reducing cost of delivery, community development, promoting volunteerism, health, safety and security, creativity and innovative-led economic opportunities and lastly, urban and rural linkages," he said.
    Meanwhile, in conjunction of the NBOS Day 2015, there were 40 exhibition booth set up by different ministeries and agencies involved in NBOS initiatives allowing the public to get information of the initiatives done by NBOS.
