School heads told to be transparent in handling school finances

    SEMPORNA: School heads are today advised to be transparent in managing their school finances as it is one of the aspects which can determine the success and performance of their respective schools.
    Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching said they should avoid corrupt practices.
    "Corrupt practices should be avoided by all those involve in the financial management of schools. There have to be accountability and integrity in handling of financial matters," she said when opening the National Conference on Education Management here today.
    She said financial management was not only about complying with the standard operating procedures, but more important was honesty and transparency.
    Yap, who is Tawau Member of Parliament, also advised teachers to improve their academic achievement by furthering their studies.
    "The Education Ministry aspires to produce quality students and these students can be produced by also quality teachers or educationists," she added. – Bernama
