TRW supporter killed in road crash

    KOTA BARU: A tahfiz teacher was killed in a road crash involving two cars and a trailer at KM 105 Jalan Kota Baru - Gua Musang in Kuala Krai today.
    The crash occurred about 6am when Afif Asyraf Yahya, 28, lost control of the Perodua Viva car he was driving, causing the vehicle to skid and veer into the opposite lane before colliding with a trailer.
    Afif Asyraf, a supporter of The Red Warriors (TRW) was driving back to Kota Baru after watching the FA Cup final between Kelantan and the Lions XII at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
    Acting Kuala Krai district police chief DSP Mohd Azlan Abdul Kadir said Afif Asyraf died at the scene, while a passenger in the car, Amiruddin Nawi, 29, who is Afif Asyraf's cousin, escaped with minor injuries.
    "The impact resulted in the trailer to fall into a ravine, but its driver, Salmizi Ab Kader, 38, escaped unscathed.
    "The driver of the other car, a Perodua Alza, which was trailing behind Afif Asyraf's car, failed to apply the brake on time and crashed into Afif Asyraf's car," he said when contacted here today.
    However, he said the driver of the second car, Nor Azizi Jaaffar, 44, also escaped unscathed in the crash. He said Afif Asyraf's body was then sent to Kuala Krai Hospital for post mortem before it was claimed by relatives for burial at the Mukim Tiong Muslim cemetery. – Bernama
