PUTRAJAYA: Individuals involved in spreading the video clip of Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's speech at a closed-door programme recently had their own agenda to split the party leadership, said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said the issue raised by Muhyiddin, who is also Umno deputy president, was not new but often raised at the party's normal meetings.
"It was a speech at the party's closed-door programme. It should not be made polemic as it was from the deputy president to the party members."
He said this to reporters at the handing-over of the Jalur Gemilang to the Malaysian contingent to the Singapore SEA Games at IOI Palm Garden Hotel, here, today.
Khairy, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, was asked to comment on the seven-minute video, which showed Muhyiddin calling for the sacking of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) board members.

Khairy said it was not a big issue.
"As an Umno member, I don't think it is a big issue. It is an internal speech to party members.
"We have to talk about issues in the party and this does not mean that there is a public indication of anything. It is just us discussing issues internally," he said.
On the 1MDB issue, Khairy reiterated that the investigations by the Auditor-General and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should be allowed to take their course.
"We are all in agreement that investigations and hearing must take place.
We also agree with the prime minister that this is the correct procedure and process to find out if any of the transactions is problematic," he said. – Bernama
