PETALING JAYA: The body of one of two Indonesian women, who were feared drowned after they and three others jumped into Sungai Klang from a bridge in Brickfields on Sunday, was recovered today.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operation deputy director, Azizan Ismail, said the body was recovered at 12.30pm today in the waters below the Brickfields bridge after they were informed by the police.
"The other victim has yet to be found and the operation is ongoing," he added in a statement.
The two women and the three others, also Indonesians, jumped into the Sungai Klang in what is believed to be an attempt to escape from two men on a motorcycle on Sunday evening.
Witnesses claimed they saw the women jump into the river from the bridge at about 7pm and claimed they seemed to be running from the men on a motorcycle.
Three of the women were pulled out from the river by anglers but the other two were said to have been swept away by the strong currents.
