PETALING JAYA: The Land Public Commission (SPAD) will be introducing a drivers' card for express bus drivers soon as a method to further enhance the service standard of these drivers.
SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Syed Albar said that the introduction of the card for express bus drivers, will also allow the commission to better evaluate and rate each driver's performance.
"Currently, as there isn't any drivers' card for express bus drivers, we are faced with a shortage of such drivers and any disciplinary action against them is difficult to be done.
"By having the card, we can easily rate the drivers' performance which then makes it easier for disciplinary action to be taken against any errant driver," Syed Hamid told reporters after unveiling the new uniform for all the commission's counter staff and the one year anniversary celebration for its Kelana Jaya office today.
Syed Hamid said the card will also assist the commission to better monitor and keep track of any violation commited by the drivers.
He then revealed that the commission is considering introducing the drivers' card for all modes of public transport in the country.
"It is something that we have in the pipeline to enhance the industry services, and we will look at how things can proceed," he said.
