Ringgit opens lower versus US dollar
KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit eased against the US dollar in early trade today on lack of demand for the local unit, said a dealer.
At 9.07am, the local unit was lower at 3.6160/6190 against the greenback from 3.6130/5160 at 5pm on Monday.
The dealer said investors turned their interest to the greenback following the increase in the US core consumer price index that supported the Federal Reserve's case for a rate hike later this year.
The ringgit traded mixed against other major currencies.
It rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.6889/6931 from 2.6923/6965 on Monday and depreciated against the yen to 2.9708/9744 from 2.9707/9734 yesterday.
The local unit fell against the Euro to 3.9581/9628 versus Monday's 3.9642/0686 but strengthened against the British pound to 5.5889/5953 from 5.5940/6990. – Bernama
