Second stage of BR1M to be distributed tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: The second stage of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) will be distributed tomorrow (May 28) involving 4.65 million recipients.
Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the second stage would also include the appeals approved for 141,670 recipients.
He said as announced in the 2015 Budget, the government had decided for BR1M payments this year to be distributed in three stages. The first payment was distributed on Jan 15.
“The BR1M payment will be credited directly to the recipients’ account. For those without bank accounts, an approval letter will be posted to their address and it can be cashed at any BSN, Maybank, CIMB and Public Bank branches,” he said in a statement.
Ahmad Husni also said the government had introduced the Death Benefit Scheme with assistance of RM1,000 aimed to help beneficiaries of BR1M recipients who passed away and senior citizens.
“The beneficiaries of BR1M recipients named in the BR1M application form can make their claims for the scheme at any Bank Simpanan Nasional branch by producing the death certificates and identity cards of the deceased,” he said.
