Marc Jacobs almost became full-time video store clerk

MARC Jacobs would have worked in a video store if he hadn't become a designer.
The elite fashion designer - whose net worth is estimated at US$100 million (RM363 million) - revealed the sportswear designer Perry Ellis told him to attend the prestigious Parsons School of Design, and if he hadn't got into the facility, he would have had a "long career as a video clerk".
Talking about his alternative career plan, he said: "No plan B, I will go to Parsons or I will go work in a video store. Luckily, I got accepted to Parsons. After all, I wouldn't have had a very long career as a video clerk given the fact that there are no video stores in existence anymore."
The 52-year-old star made the confession while attending the design school's annual benefit along with Vogue magazine's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour on last Tuesday, were he also accepted an award.
The star-studded event was also attended by DKNY owner Donna Karan and celebrity designer Wes Comer, while Anna spoke highly of Marc before he was presented with his accolade.
She gushed: "He moves in a world where there is a lot of hype and a lot of superficiality, but he's always remained very firmly on the ground. He's never gonna make a piece that's deliberately obtuse. He's never gonna add a third sleeve." – Bang Media
