CDC, govt agencies to support exiting MAS staff

KUALA LUMPUR: The Corporate Development Centre (CDC), created to support exiting Malaysia Airlines (MAS) employees with their career transition beyond MAS, is partnering with government agencies including Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) and MyAngkasa Amanah Bhd (MAAB) to provide free advice and consultation on financial planning, credit management, investments and related topics.
Set up by Khazanah Nasional Bhd as part of the 12-point MAS Recovery Plan, CDC provides exiting employees with a broad range of outplacement and training services, including talent profiling, career counselling, basic and detailed training, job-seeking skills, entrepreneurship, retirement planning and placement.
"Whether individuals are seeking a new job, intend to set up a business or take early retirement, CDC's team will provide practical steps, advice and support to plan their next steps as smoothly as possible. CDC officially opens for registration on June 1, 2015 for employees exiting MAS," CDC said in a statement last Friday.
CDC CEO Shahryn Azmi said the partnership would be of benefit to exiting MAS employees who will gain insights and knowledge that would help them in planning for their future.
Individuals who are seeking a new job will be advised and guided by CDC's trained and experienced career counsellors on career opportunities based on their preferences, previous job experience and skills.
CDC's placement professionals will then seek prospective employers that have job opportunities matching their talents. Areas of personal development and interests will also be taken into consideration in planning for their future career.
For individuals seeking to upskill, CDC now offers close to 450 programmes, courses or classes that are relevant to the market across many industries, with more to come. Individuals will have access to a wide variety of choices, including business, communications, entrepreneurship, engineering, marketing, information technology and more.
Training modules include providing essential skills and knowledge such as business plan writing, financial management, computer literacy, communications skills, CV writing and personal grooming.

With the support of our partners such as AKPK and MAAB, and more to come, there's a range of resources that we can provide exclusively for you," he said in a statement.
