Sarong storm at JPJ

PETALING JAYA: A disgruntled client today took to Facebook to criticise the Road Transport Department (JPJ) after she was forced to wear a sarong upon entering the premise.
The post, which went viral online, was posted by a Facebook user going by the name of Suzanne G L Tan, after she visited JPJ to sign a transfer form for a car she sold.
She took her frustration online after she was deemed, by a JPJ staff at the number counter, to be wearing indecent attire and was handed a sarong for her to wear or she will not be entertained.
"I go dressed like this (picture of her wearing a T-shirt and a skirt just above the knees). Indecent 'meh'?" her Facebook status reads.
She also posted another picture of her in the premises, wearing the sarong that was handed to her.
"So I look like this (referring to her picture wearing the sarong), only to sit in front of a counter window where only top part of my body (is) visible to the officer. I don't know if I should laugh or cry," she added.
A JPJ public relations officer said investigations are currently underway to identify which one of its branches was involved in the incident.
"We were just informed of the matter and are currently doing our own investigation," he said when contacted by theSun.
On whether this is a new guideline for customers visiting JPJ offices, he said: "Whatever it is, we have to dress accordingly, based on the dress code of entering a government building."
Later in the evening, JPJ posted an image to their Facebook fan page which clarifies the dress code at their premises.
