JPJ outlines detailed dress code guidelines

PETALING JAYA: Those visiting any Road Transport Department (JPJ) office for any reason are required to take note of its new detailed dress code that everyone will have to adhere to when on premises.
The JPJ had recently uploaded these guidelines on its website as an announcement to the general public.
The new guidelines state that visitors must be appropriately attired, clean and consistent with standard community practice in Malaysia.
It also states that visitors should dress modestly, especially when on official dealings with JPJ in their office complexes.
In the guidelines, dressing modestly include: Wearing dress shirts, collared t-shirts, wearing shoes and skirts that are below knee-level.
It also states that visitors will be denied access if they wear clothes that are not modest or are too revealing.
This includes: Skirts above the knee, wearing short pants, sleeveless apparel, tight skirts or pants and wearing slippers or flip-flops.
Lawmakers yesterday slammed the Road Transport Department (JPJ) for not setting its priorities to serve the people and instead imposing “unreasonable” and “discriminatory” dress codes.
