PETALING JAYA: Scomi Energy Services Bhd's (SESB) oilfield services division has secured US$71.4 million (RM266.4 million) worth of contracts for the first five months of 2015, from the US$980 million bids submitted thus far.
In a statement yesterday, it said orders from Oman and Thailand drew US$33 million each while the balance came in from Australia, Indonesia, Russia and Pakistan.
The contracts involve the provision of drilling waste management equipment and services as well as drilling fluids solutions to its clients in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe.
"We are encouraged by this development despite the easing of drilling activities in many markets," SESB's president for Market Units, Oilfield Services Wan Ruzlan Iskandar said.
"Looking ahead, we remain optimistic that the results of other tenders will be positive, especially in our core markets such as Myanmar and Indonesia. The Middle East markets also remain very active as it is currently the only region with rig count growth and national oil companies pushing for higher production of oil.
"With the introduction of graphene based technology to our diversified product range, we are expecting to maintain this momentum going forward," he added.
With its presence in over 20 countries, the group is well-positioned to bid for projects globally. The SESB group has a current order book of over RM4 billion.
