Police detain 2 men, seize homemade shotgun

    JERANTUT: Police detained two men and seized a homemade shotgun at Matau Balak Lama near Felda Kota Gelanggi here early today.

    District police chief Supt Azid Ahmad said police were conducting a crime prevention patrol in the area at 4.30am when they came upon the two suspects who had been acting in a suspicious manner.

    "When they were confronted, one of the suspects aged 37, was found to be carrying a weapon that appeared to be a homemade gun.

    "An inspection found 34 bullets under his belt; initial investigation found that he also has a previous conviction under Section 506 of the Penal Code (criminal intimidation)," he told reporters here today.

    Azid said an inspection on the second suspect aged 20 found that the sling bag he was carrying contained drug paraphernalia.
    "The second suspect also has a previous conviction under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (consumption or self-administration of dangerous drugs)," he said.

    Azid said both men, from Kota Gelanggi 2, were brought to the Jerantut district police headquarters for further investigation under Section 9(a) of the Firearms Act 1960. – Bernama
