KUALA LUMPUR: Ten underprivileged families from PPR Sri Pantai, including a family of husband and wife whom are both with blindness disability, were assisted by Great Vision Charity Association's Shopping Buddy Program.
The Shopping Buddy Program is a program conducted by the association on a monthly basis, where 10 selected underprivileged families were invited for a groceries shopping session to help ease their household burden.
Grocery shopping has become a daunting task for the blind couple due to difficulties in navigating the aisles and in reading the food labels or price tags on grocery products.
The volunteers helped collect a shopping list from the couple beforehand and helped the couple to shop and deliver the groceries to them personally.
Meanwhile, for the rest of the other underprivileged families, once they were done with the shopping session, they were invited to enjoy luncheon at Seasons Restaurant before being chauffeured back to their homes by the volunteers.
Special thanks were accorded to Seasons Restaurant for their ongoing support on the Rakan Shopping charity event by providing discount on total the bill.
