BALIK PULAU: A tuition teacher pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court today to three charges of performing a sexual act on three of his students.

Mohd Amin Nur Izwan Jamaluddin, 21, was alleged to have committed the act on three separate occasions at his house in Bayan Lepas between February and May 13, this year.

The teaching assistant denied performing oral sex on the three 12-year-olds and claimed trial.

For the first charge Mohd Amin was alleged to have attempted to arouse a child to perform indecent sexual act at his house about 9am on May 13.

He was charged with the second and third offences of performing the same acts on two more children about 6pm between February and May this year.

He faces a prison sentence of up to 15 years and whipping if convicted for the offence under the Penal Code.

DPP Edward Chan urged the court not to grant bail citing the risk of witness tampering.

However, Joseph Cheong, a counsel of the National Legal Aid Foundation, said the accused had to care for his parents who were suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

Sessions Court Judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz then set RM6,000 bail with one surety for each charge.

She ordered Mohd Amin not to contact the alleged victims and their families. She also ordered him to move from his current residence before fixing July 27 for case management.
